And that’s a wrap for 2025

by Amanda

After dilly-dallying all year, I realized I hadn’t posted a single post in 2025. Oops. I’ve drafted a couple but they’ve gone nowhere. 2025 has certainly been an eventful year, though. Plenty of exciting things have happened, such as… we got another corgi! Milo has a little sisfur now and her name is Toffee. She was around 7 months old when we brought her home so we got to skip a lot of the early puppy phase. She was mostly house trained, but we still had a little bit more training to go. She’s been an absolute chaos tornado in our home and we’re loving every little bit of it.

I know she looks calm but she’s just bottled terror waiting to explode. She’s brought so much joy to our family and we can tell Milo loves having another dog around. We’re extremely lucky they’ve gotten along so well. We hardly had to do anything at all. They took a few days to warm to each other but now they’re in the routine of playing everyday and napping all over the place. She uses him as a pillow often. I can understand it. Milo’s quite comfy.

In other news, I am still reading. I set a goal to read 100 books this year seeing as how I knocked out 155 last year, but that was ambitious. I decided midway through the year that I didn’t need a goal because I’m perfectly capable of motivating myself to read. Now, I’m just reading at my own pace. Our home library is at nearly a thousand books now so I’ve still got plenty on the TBR to get through. Currently? I’m about 33% into Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy and it’s interesting enough so far. I haven’t really picked up a book this year that completely grabbed my attention like some of last year’s. I think I’ll wrap up the year with less than half the amount of books read compared to last year, but I feel better about the balance between my many various hobbies.

Speaking of hobbies… I’m hoping more snowfall gets around here soon. We have a couple of trips planned in the winter for snowboarding. It’ll be less trips than last season so that I have PTO hours remaining through the rest of the year for non-snowboarding trips. I ended last season being actually able to send blues at an okay-ish speed. I’m hoping when this season starts up, I’ve kept some of that memory. I’m sure there’s a draft post about my snowboarding struggles around here somewhere.

Some other 2025 highlights are…

  • Seeing 5 concerts, including one we got tickets for just the night before because why not?
  • Driving down to SLO and back in a day to meet one of our favorite authors and get some books signed
  • Exercising better work-life boundaries – no emails outside of normal work hours 💪
  • Flashing my first (indoor) V3 boulder

We’ve got more concerts, more books, and more trips lined up for 2026. I’ve got more hobbies to dig back into and need to find some time to get more of Toffee onto the blog.
